1,000 (stuffed) Bonobos have checked in at our partner Radisson Blu Scandinavia. Each of these soft toys comes with its own unique name and can be purchased for 300 SEK. All proceeds go directly to Friends Of Bonobos, supporting their crucial efforts to protect the endangered Bonobo. Join our campaign—visit the hotel in Gothenburg and pick up your very own Bonobo.

Thank you, Radisson Blu Scandinavia, for helping us help the Bonobos together with Friends of Bonobos.
Bonobos are NOT pets!
The Bonobos are victims of the illegal bushmeat trade, which is driven by extreme poverty. Hunters kill adult Bonobos for their meat and sell the traumatized orphaned babies as pets. Habitat loss due to logging and agriculture also threaten bonobos with extinction. No one is sure how many bonobos are left in the wild, but it could be as few as 5,000.
Friends of Bonobos was founded by Claudine André, who also founded Les Amis des Bonobos du Congo (ABC) or ’Friends of Bonobos in Congo.’ Friends of Bonobos is the non-profit organization that supports the work of ABC. They raise funds for ABC globally and awareness internationally about bonobos and their plight and ABC’s critical work to save and protect them. The on-the-ground work in DRC is managed and run in the DR Congo, originally led by Claudine André, and now led by her daughter, Fanny Minesi, both of whom grew up in the DR Congo and have spent most of their lives there. They are the powerhouses behind this mission and these programs – some of the most effective and comprehensive bonobo conservation work on the planet.
Rescue & Sanctuary
At Lola ya Bonobo sanctuary, orphaned bonobos are rescued from the illegal trade in wildlife. Bonobos are nursed back to health and cared for as long as needed, sometimes for the rest of their lives.
Rewild & Protect
At Lola ya Bonobo Community Reserve, bonobos are released back into the wild and given long-term protection. We conserve their rainforest home and work with local communities to lessen poverty and raise bonobo awareness.
Tackle Root Causes
The bushmeat trade is tied to extreme poverty. We help communities build a better future through conservation instead of hunting. We educate people about bonobos and their plight within the DRC and globally.
